Local politico and Fox News Channel host Mike Huckabee will be the guest at the 60 Plus Association’s healthcare town hall Oct. 4 in Miramar Beach, the next stop on the association’s nationwide “Let’s Do Better” bus tour.

The 60 Plus Association is rallying seniors at healthcare forums with a “rolling postcard” that boasts more than 2,000 signatures of Americans who are sending a message to Washington that they want to repeal and replace Obamacare with healthcare reform that is affordable and patient centered. The organization’s mott is “we can do better.”The meeting will be held at the Sandestin Hilton, 4000 S. Sandestin Blvd., 6 to 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30, and this event is free to attend.

“The healthcare bill is not only a bad product, but it was concocted by a bad process, in locked rooms in the middle of the night, with people having never read over 2700 pages of the most massive policy that has ever been concocted and pushed on the American people,” Huckabee said in a prepared statement. “And despite the kicking and screaming of Americans to say ‘we don’t want this,’ Congress insisted we were going to have it anyway. Well it’s one thing to have to take our medicine when we’re kids, but American voters are grown ups, we expect and demand to be treated like it, and we weren’t … we can do something about it.”

The stop is the latest for Huckabee, who has been barnstorming through the region to rally conservatives behind Mitt Romney.
